In late March ArtHouse became an Enhanced Essential Provider.. And while we’ve always considered ourselves Essential knowing what an important role our programs play in the lives of ArtHouse kids who have no access to the arts, we were approached by one of our long-time friends; Henderson Partners LLP with an offer to help us launch a campaign to provide our families with fresh meals and at the same time support some of our local restaurants. A Covid-19 pivot for sure, but the outcomes have enriched so many.
Close to 70 ArtHouse Families (260 family members) have received a total 1,600 weekly meals over the past four months, four restaurants have been been able to keep most of their staff employed, and 25 Volunteers including members of Wellington Square Church have helped to either prepare meals or deliver them to our Oakville and Burlington Families.
The Arts have played a centre-stage role as well with 23 Educational You-tubes and Live Zoom Interactive Programs that are reaching dozens of our young people – 8 ArtHouse Instructors have “virtually” adapted and we are super grateful for their skills.
This all could not have happened without the wonderful support from 200 Donors, Sponsors and Granting Organizations – over $175,000 has been raised! So much generosity at a most critical time – thank you all! And, because we just don’t know when or even if “normal” will return, we plan to support even more families in Milton with an exciting partnership with Food For Life which will transform Rescued Food into healthy meals.

Through this Covid transition, our families have invited us into their lives, and whether it’s to support some of their most urgent needs, or ensure they have access to our programs, our goal is to support the Whole Child – creatively, physically, socially, emotionally, intellectually, educationally and nutritionally in an atmosphere that is supportive and safe. We are in this for keeps!
